My Puppies like Peanut Butter

But both have different methods to make sure they have consumed every last bit.

Pirate likes to lick the cabinet and Roxy likes to lick her arm (not the best pic of that, sorry). Somehow, doing this makes sure that there is no peanut butter left on their tongues.....

And you know what happens if you eat something really rich....

Yep, a food coma.

TriAtomics

He's official.

Russ now has a bike jersey and a triathlon top from the Los Alamos TriAtomics tri club!

Squishy

How many bodies can fit onto one couch cushion.....?

My puppies seem to really like to cuddle. :)

My Seester-in-law Came to Visit!

Russ' sister, Sabrina, came to visit us last weekend.  She had spent her entire summer the San Francisco Bay area and we were her first stop on her way back to OKC.

Here Sabrina is trying out the 3-D TV at Best Buy when Russ was looking around at all of the different televisions. (Did you know that some TVs can't come up to certain elevations...? They could explode.)

Russ made us maple bacon and chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast Sunday. Yum!

Later that afternoon, we went to the Los Alamos Library's Harry Potter exhibit. It was pretty interesting to see where JK Rowling got some of her inspiration.

Russ isn't the biggest Harry Potter fan, can't you tell?

Sabrina loves genetics and Harry Potter. :)

We had an awesome/relaxing time with her.  Too bad it rained almost the entire weekend and we never got to go on a hike to the ski hill.

First Anniversary Photos

We found a photographer in Los Alamos who we thought would capture some nice pics of us for our first anniversary and our new life in New Mexico.

Thanks for the dress, Mom!

This is actually a really dirty, back parking lot. Haha.

Love him!

This is in front of the the Post Office, which is the first building Russ and I went into in Los Alamos when we visited before moving.

This one is my favorite!

What Disney Channel Helped Me Learn

If I want Russ to get off the computer, I just start watching the Disney Channel and make him listen to "The Wizards of Waverly Place."

P.S. I really do love watching many of the Disney shows and Russ likes to make fun of me. :)

Next Big Idea

One of the best things about my job is that I get to be involved in a ton of various activities!

Last week, I spent Monday-Wednesday commuting to Santa Fe for Business Advisor training. (I could never commute on a regular basis, all you folks who do it amaze me!) And Thursday and Friday I helped with some prep work for a community-wide event, The Next Big Idea.

Here are the tents all set up and ready for the exhibitors.

Balloons make every event more festive.

The event had several different science and technology exhibitors; there were remote-controlled robots, water rockets, a Prius that could park itself, holographic jewelry, a mind-flex game (where you could control a little ball being blown over a board with your mind) and lots of fun food vendors.

There was also a volleyball game with a giant beach ball. This was lots of fun but the ball kept knocking down the net and it made it hard to keep playing.  Overall, I was super impressed that they could even serve a ball that big because it was heavy!

With all the fun exhibits geared towards kids (making silly putty, shooting water rockets, moving a little ball with their mind) the balloons were still a HUGE hit! :)

Funny Name?

A little while ago, we found a Schlotzsky's in Santa Fe, yum. We went inside, placed our order, and when they asked for a name, I said, "Emiley."

Now, it would have made sense if they had spelled it "Emily"or even "Emilee."

Instead, they decided to get uber-creative and spelled it, "Emaliy." This is a a spelling I most certainly have never seen before. I always thought my way was very creative but this takes the cake!

Summer Concert

Last Friday, we went to another concert at Ashley Pond.  At first, Russ and I went on our own but after running to get some yummy Sonic goodness (strawberry limeade chiller, I highly recommend it) we picked up the puppies from home.

The dogs were very well behaved.  They whined every time another dog or a child walked by but that's only because they wanted to play. :)

Roxy was fascinated by a doberman playing nearby.... it barely noticed her but she couldn't take her eyes off of it.  Maybe she had a crush...

Happy Friday!

I love Fridays. Especially when they're followed by lazy Saturdays... Mine isn't this week.

But that's OK. I'm helping with a community-wide event at work and I'll put a post up about it in a few days.

I am ready to sleep in someday soon (maybe next weekend). This has been a super long week.

Anniversary Weekend

Friday: We were both off work. :) We relaxed, watched the Tour de France, relaxed some more and did a little laundry.

Please ignore the crazy curl sticking out of my head, my hair has a mind of its own, haha.

That evening we drove to Albuquerque to have a nice dinner and see the national tour of "Beauty and the Beast." This is my favorite Disney movie and I've seen the musical on tour twice.  I love it!

Unfortunately, Google Maps took us to the wrong side of town and we ended up 40 minutes late to the show.

It was alright but we missed one of the funniest songs ; Gaston asking Belle to marry him. :) Here's another of my favorites! It's Belle singing right after she become the Beast's prisoner, it's beautiful.

Saturday: We chilled.

And watched the Tour de France.

And Russ played Ratchet and Clank while I read "The Shack." (I cannot recommend this book enough.  If anyone would like to discuss it, I'm your woman. :)

Sunday: Our First Anniversary! Russ did an Olympic distance triathlon.

We got up at 4 am to leave by 5 am for Cochiti Lake. We brought the dogs and while Russ was stretching in the bed of the truck, Roxy got to be his look-out.

Here all the racers are gathering for the 1500 meter swim to start.

Russ biking onto the 40 K course.  He said that this was a great ride, not as many hills and steep inclines as Los Alamos.

The dogs and I went to the truck while Russ was biking.

I think getting up at 4 am made them tired.

Here he is finishing the 10 K run. He did the race in 2 hours and 31 minutes.

Third place in his age group! (He would have placed in the age group above him, too!)

She thinks she's a lap dog....

When we got home, it was time for the infamous wedding cake.  Russ was not enthused. He loves cake, especially wedding cake, and freezing it for an entire year was a terrible idea in his opinion.

He ate it anyway. :) The frosting didn't freeze well and fell of the cake almost as soon as we cut into it but the cake tasted good.

We went and saw "Despicable Me" after that and ended up receiving one of our tickets for free! We were the 50th customer and that was the prize. Awesome! (Also, this movie is very cute and funny.)

Yay being married a year!

It's been a year and what a year it has been!

We've been married a year!

Looking back, it's gone by so quickly.

But there were moments when it felt like forever!

Wedding after-party. (No, I have no idea what I was telling him, I just think the face I'm making is funny.)

We went to Universal Studios, proving that we're kids through and through. :)

Swam with dolphins.

Ate lots of delicious food.

We braved the Oklahoma City Christmas blizzard and managed to spend ample amounts of time with both of our families. :)

Took lot of smiley pictures.

Spent Easter with both families.

Russ spent all year commuting from OKC to Stillwater to school and graduation was a very sweet moment..

We took several photos with the ALF, which Russ helped re-build throughout college.

We moved to Los Alamos, NM for his awesome first job.

Both of our families came to visit and we enjoyed showing them around our new home.

It's been a year!
