Furr Babies

It's amazing how often my furr babies want to cuddle. They almost always need at least some part of their body touching Russ or me, even if it is their toe touching our arm.

They like to make sure that I don't forget them while on Facebook or working on the blog.

And it is important to Roxy that she prove that she could be a small dog if she wanted. All 65 lbs of her can curl up onto one couch cushion, which is preferred because we do tell her that she has to share the couch with her parents and brother. :)

OKC weekend - We already miss it

Sunday was pretty low-key. We went to church and then back to my parents' for lunch.

Here's my friend Kate (we've known each other since sixth grade and for all of middle school and high school we took dance and went to church together). She actually lives in Paris, France right now and happens to be visiting home for the month of August. What a lucky coincidence!

Becca helped me wrangle my pups for a photo in my parents' backyard because, even with the triple-digit Oklahoma heat, they've made it beautiful!

They held still for this one millisecond. :)

Please excuse the yellowness of the picture, it was taken with my phone.

I love her to the end of the universe and back. AND, I need her in my life because, otherwise, I would have no idea what drink to order at Starbucks (Passion Fruit Lemonade Iced Tea).

We had missed Braum's burgers and ice cream so much. On our way into Oklahoma we grabbed dinner from Braum's and on our way out we grabbed milkshakes. :)

This is the sunset that greeted us shortly after we crossed the New Mexico state-line. God paints the sky so pretty!

Dog Park

Last week, we went to the Los Alamos dog park for the first time.

I think the puppies had a good time making new friends...

And exploring the park. :)

Roxy sprinted from one corner to the other with her full, long strides.

And Pirate ran away from the bigger dogs to hide behind Russ' feet. :)

All in all, we had lots of fun!

My Puppies like Peanut Butter

But both have different methods to make sure they have consumed every last bit.

Pirate likes to lick the cabinet and Roxy likes to lick her arm (not the best pic of that, sorry). Somehow, doing this makes sure that there is no peanut butter left on their tongues.....

And you know what happens if you eat something really rich....

Yep, a food coma.

Squishy

How many bodies can fit onto one couch cushion.....?

My puppies seem to really like to cuddle. :)

Summer Concert

Last Friday, we went to another concert at Ashley Pond.  At first, Russ and I went on our own but after running to get some yummy Sonic goodness (strawberry limeade chiller, I highly recommend it) we picked up the puppies from home.

The dogs were very well behaved.  They whined every time another dog or a child walked by but that's only because they wanted to play. :)

Roxy was fascinated by a doberman playing nearby.... it barely noticed her but she couldn't take her eyes off of it.  Maybe she had a crush...

Happy Friday!

I love Fridays. Especially when they're followed by lazy Saturdays... Mine isn't this week.

But that's OK. I'm helping with a community-wide event at work and I'll put a post up about it in a few days.

I am ready to sleep in someday soon (maybe next weekend). This has been a super long week.

Anniversary Weekend

Friday: We were both off work. :) We relaxed, watched the Tour de France, relaxed some more and did a little laundry.

Please ignore the crazy curl sticking out of my head, my hair has a mind of its own, haha.

That evening we drove to Albuquerque to have a nice dinner and see the national tour of "Beauty and the Beast." This is my favorite Disney movie and I've seen the musical on tour twice.  I love it!

Unfortunately, Google Maps took us to the wrong side of town and we ended up 40 minutes late to the show.

It was alright but we missed one of the funniest songs ; Gaston asking Belle to marry him. :) Here's another of my favorites! It's Belle singing right after she become the Beast's prisoner, it's beautiful.

Saturday: We chilled.

And watched the Tour de France.

And Russ played Ratchet and Clank while I read "The Shack." (I cannot recommend this book enough.  If anyone would like to discuss it, I'm your woman. :)

Sunday: Our First Anniversary! Russ did an Olympic distance triathlon.

We got up at 4 am to leave by 5 am for Cochiti Lake. We brought the dogs and while Russ was stretching in the bed of the truck, Roxy got to be his look-out.

Here all the racers are gathering for the 1500 meter swim to start.

Russ biking onto the 40 K course.  He said that this was a great ride, not as many hills and steep inclines as Los Alamos.

The dogs and I went to the truck while Russ was biking.

I think getting up at 4 am made them tired.

Here he is finishing the 10 K run. He did the race in 2 hours and 31 minutes.

Third place in his age group! (He would have placed in the age group above him, too!)

She thinks she's a lap dog....

When we got home, it was time for the infamous wedding cake.  Russ was not enthused. He loves cake, especially wedding cake, and freezing it for an entire year was a terrible idea in his opinion.

He ate it anyway. :) The frosting didn't freeze well and fell of the cake almost as soon as we cut into it but the cake tasted good.

We went and saw "Despicable Me" after that and ended up receiving one of our tickets for free! We were the 50th customer and that was the prize. Awesome! (Also, this movie is very cute and funny.)

Yay being married a year!

Leaving Puppies

Sorry for the absence of blog posts last week but it was a crazy and exhausting few days

Russ and I went to Minneapolis for a wedding over the weekend and that meant we had to board our puppies.  The vet that I had called and made arrangements with the week before, unfortunately, lost our reservation. We scrambled and got them into an animal hotel in Santa Fe but the emotions had taken there toll on me, I felt like the worst doggie mom in the world... (it's OK, they've both forgiven me by now.)

Russ pointed out that this means I'm going to be a basket case when we have children and have to send them to their first day of school. He's right. :)

Poor Puppies

We clearly have a problem.

My dogs can't seem to find a comfortable place to take a nap.

I wish there was a way I could help them.

Poor babies....

New Furniture!!!!

Russ and I went to Albuquerque three weeks ago and purchased a living room set that was on sale for Memorial Day weekend. Part of the set was FINALLY delivered today. The set includes an L-shaped couch, a love seat, a coffee table and two side tables.

Unfortunately, the L-shaped couch hasn't been delivered to my mountain yet because it's on back order. :(

I love the nubby khaki upholstery!

These pictures make it look like my living room is really put together, hahaha, not a prayer.  But I'm not including pictures of that. :)

Roxy and Pirate love the new seating!

Crazy puppy right after his bath. *Please ignore the green demon eyes*

Before Pirate was allowed to get on the couch, I had to give him a bath.  We ran out of doggie bath soap last weekend, so he now smells like White Citrus, yum!

Here he is taunting Roxy with the tennis ball. :)

It's Friday but it's really my first Saturday!

Today, Russ begins getting every other Friday off from work. Yay, I like having him home with me! We're really excited he get's this as an option because all the Fridays we need for traveling this summer coincide with his schedule. Awesome!

This would be my new Blackberry. :) Russ and I both had to get new phones because our old provider's coverage in the Los Alamos area was terrible.  Russ had no service at work and we weren't ever able to get a hold of each other.

We now have a new provider and new phones.  Mine is purple, you can barely see it because I have this super-duty case covering most of the prettiness. (Russ says I drop things a lot..... maybe he's right.)

In just a little while both doggies are getting baths.  Don't feel sorry for them, I know that's how they would like you to feel, but it's all an act because in reality they get lots of their favorite treats. Lucky dogs!

Here they are waiting beside the tub because the tub = treats. (Please look at how awkwardly Roxy can twist herself, she's so funny!)

This picture doesn't pertain to baths but I thought it was funny: Pirate is laying on top of Russ' cold pack, he stayed there for almost an hour.
