Labor Day Weekend: Historic Los Alamos

After visiting the Black Hole, we drove over to Fuller Lodge so that my family could look through the historical museum.

Becca had fun grinding the corn.

After finding an available potty and looking through the museum, we stopped to look at a log cabin built in 1913 that was moved from it's original site to a location behind Fuller Lodge.

There are my super cute parents.

Here's an ancestral pueblo dwelling from approximately 1225. Becca and I both walked along the remnants of the walls like a balance beam. :)

My husband trying to ruin a picture by hiding his face.

There he is! So cute.

Amy, Part Deux

Sorry for the HUGE delay is blogs posts. It's been a super busy week/weekend.

Here are more pictures from Amy's visit:

Roxy and Amy goofing around on the air mattress.

Amy purchased an apron for me as a housewarming present.

AND, it had quatrafoils all over the bottom ruffle! (A Phi Mu symbol.)

Even Roxy and Pirate loved loved sharing the couch with me and my apron.
Amy brought Russ a blue duck as his housewarming gift, she'd been searching for one for a long while. (It's a joke from Happy Gilmore)

Here Amy is posing with the creepy statue girl at the Railyard District in Santa Fe.

I love her and I'm so grateful she came to visit and watch lots of girly movies with me!

Amy visit!

As soon as we picked up Amy from the airport, Roxy was all over her!

We spent most of our weekend watching movies and eating yummy, gluten-free food. On Saturday, Amy and I braved the rainy weather to go exploring Los Alamos.

Our first stop was the CB Fox Department Store.

They had lots of Thanksgiving and Halloween decorations, including the "Jelly Belly Fall Festival Mix," which had something that looked brain in it (see it in the bottom left corner of the bag)....

Then we walked over to the Bradbury Science Museum and played in the puzzle room.

And had way more fun then two-college grads ever should. :)

More pics to come tomorrow!

Amy's Here!

She'll be here for the whole weekend and it is going to be AWESOME!

Here we are at Russ' graduation.

Russ is meeting up with his friend Stephen for the Hotter n' Hell bike race in Wichita Falls and Amy is coming to keep me company.

Showing our true selves with my seester, Becca.

We're going to have a fabulous weekend of watching movies, eating gluten-free food and wandering around my new town. :)

I'm so excited to have her here! It's been more than 3 months!!!!

OKC weekend - We already miss it

Sunday was pretty low-key. We went to church and then back to my parents' for lunch.

Here's my friend Kate (we've known each other since sixth grade and for all of middle school and high school we took dance and went to church together). She actually lives in Paris, France right now and happens to be visiting home for the month of August. What a lucky coincidence!

Becca helped me wrangle my pups for a photo in my parents' backyard because, even with the triple-digit Oklahoma heat, they've made it beautiful!

They held still for this one millisecond. :)

Please excuse the yellowness of the picture, it was taken with my phone.

I love her to the end of the universe and back. AND, I need her in my life because, otherwise, I would have no idea what drink to order at Starbucks (Passion Fruit Lemonade Iced Tea).

We had missed Braum's burgers and ice cream so much. On our way into Oklahoma we grabbed dinner from Braum's and on our way out we grabbed milkshakes. :)

This is the sunset that greeted us shortly after we crossed the New Mexico state-line. God paints the sky so pretty!

OKC Weekend - Time with Friends

Saturday afternoon, Russ and I went over to the house of my good friends Holly and Hillary.

We had margaritas and fruit snacks and just sat around to catch up.

Here Hillary is expressing her extreme distaste for my need to take lots of pictures.
I've missed them so much! Both Hillary and Holly do all types of theater and I'm so excited that I will actually be able to see Holly's next show because it is the weekend that Russ is doing a triathlon in OKC!

I accidentally cut off most of Tonk's face. whoops.

Tonks really liked Russ. She cuddled up right next to his leg for almost the entire time we were there. :)

Russ' friend Stephen came over to hang out with us, too.

Unfortunately, the boys had done a bike ride earlier in the day and he was pooped.

Holly wanted to check and see if her carpet was as comfortable as Stephen seemed to think.
FYI: I love my friends.

Andrew and Melissa: Rehearsal

We left for the airport at 2 am Friday morning so that we would be in Albuquerque early enough for our 6 am flight.  Needless to say, we slept like the dead Friday night. :)

My parents picked us up at the airport and got us to the hotel in Minneapolis so that we could all get ready for the rehearsal dinner.  My dad, Russ and I went to the wedding rehearsal because we had a video camera and Russ could tape everything that was going on there.

Andrew's mom (my godmom), Michele, is planning a reception in OKC in August for all of the Oklahoma people who couldn't make it to the wedding and we're going to show them the video of the wedding rehearsal/ceremony/reception.

I've known Andrew since I was born, literally, he was there at the hospital to see me in my first days. And it has been so cool to watch him and Melissa throughout the years. They met in college and when they would come back for breaks it was always so wonderful to see them together because they compliment each other so much.

This is the ring bearer, he's precious. He loves to nap in his Izzie's arms.

I was really bad about taking pictures from the rehearsal dinner because I was just having so much fun talking to everyone! Even with the flooding the rain caused to come under the tent, it was no big deal, besides, the desserts were so good that we could have all been drenched and not cared. :)

And this is what we all looked like when we got back to the hotel that night. Exhausted. But it was a great day with family and friends!

More OKC Trip

On Sunday, I met up with some of my good friends to hang out.  I went over to my SchoebNatts' house. (It's our last names combined - my maiden name and her last name - given to us our sophomore year of high school.)

This is Holly's new puppy, Tonks.  She has the most precious overbite and she's so tiny I can hold her in one hand. I'd steal her and keep her for myself if I thought Roxy wouldn't eat her.

After hanging out with my friends, I got to see my seester.  She had been at a church retreat all weekend but as soon as she came home, she got to be my chauffeur. :) I didn't want to drive her car because it said "Senior Woman" and people already think I'm 17....

Here's Becca with her boyfriend, Clinton.  This is the conversation they were having:
Becca - You're not very comfortable.
Clinton - You're sitting on my shins....

This picture is better upside down. Promise.

Quick Trip to OKC

I spent a long weekend in OKC to celebrate the wedding of my good friend Courtney. She was the first person who I clearly remember wanting to be my friend when we started middle school youth group at church in sixth grade.

Casey, Courtney and I spent lots and lots of weekends in middle school and high school having sleepovers and talking all night long.  It was so special to get to be with Courtney on her special day! :)

Recap: Graduation/Going Away Party

Russ' mom hosted an incredibly fun party for us the day after graduation! There were great friends, yummy food and lots of Nerf gun darts flying through the air.

Brock, Russ and Stephen. Friends that go way back.

Here they show their true colors. :)

Alisha and Brock are expecting a baby in December!

My friends, Marge and Amy. Aren't they pretty?

We had so much fun and we're really going to miss our friends. Fortunately, we have Skype (check us out: EmileyandRuss), e-mail, Facebook and we live close to several vacation spots so everyone should come visit!
